How to advance to your Antonio López's exhibition visit, then I tell you what you will find in it.

Inbound, two initial tips: unless you plan to go to the Thyssen museum early in the morning or at noon, it is almost essential that buy tickets in advance. This will allow you to ensure entry to the exhibition on the day and time you want. The price of tickets to the temporary exhibition is 10 euros.

As an experience, I told you that the day I went, a Friday at 8 pm (taking advantage of the fact that in summer the Thyssen keeps the temporary exhibition open until 11 pm), who intended buy tickets at the box office for that same afternoon, they gave him the 21,20 hours as hour of access to the exhibition.

And the second tip is rent the audio guide service. Obviously you can see the paintings and sculptures exposed by extracting your own sensations, but the audio guide is an essential help to understand all the nuances of Antonio López's work, and to know his artistic evolution.

The Antonio López's exhibition It is distributed in two different scenarios. On the ground floor, in the usual area of temporary exhibitions, you can see the most outstanding works, distributed in thematic areas.

In the first two rooms you will find some of his most significant works, with autobiographical dyes, such as New fridge (1991-94), Carmencita playing (1959-60), or the busts of Antonio and Mari (1967-68).

The following is a great room dedicated to his paintings in Madrid, with his famous work Gran Via (1974-81), and other large paintings of panoramic views of the capital, such as the imposing Madrid from the Vallecas fire station (1990-06), from Gran Vía itself.

The exhibition in the area of the ground floor is completed with the room dedicated to paintings and drawings with the theme of the tree, and sculptures and nude drawings, where you can see the double sculpture Man and woman (1968-94).

The another area Dedicated to Antonio López s exhibitionIt is located in the basement. Here you will see a retrospective of his work, with paintings from his early days, with influences from Pompeii's paintings, portraits of human couples, interior pencil drawings, as well as still lifes and flower paintings.

To complete your visit you can watch two documentaries that, with a total duration of 25 minutes, present interviews conducted on the occasion of the exhibition, both Antonio López himself, as friends and artists. Very interesting to better understand his work.

Of course, the huge influx of public can force you to wait for a queue to access the very small room where documentaries are projected, which has less than 25 chairs.

I remind you that the Antonio López's exhibition it's open until September 25.
